Goopy ceramics = Fine Art?

NYT recently had an article about how ceramics are everywhere, including in galleries.
Am I the only one that thinks theese look really goopy?

Are they being made this way as a statement to move the boundaries of what fine art is? Or is it just a trend in our society that have startet to cherish “natural” things like ecological food etc? Maybe the balenciaga shoe will tap into the same hypebeast customer group that buys all the open edition kaws releases

There is a very handmade aesthetic to ceramics always IMO, and it seems to appeal to a lot of people.
Is there a way of defining Fine Art? Defining art is definitely not easy. I really like the phone though!
